According to a recent Climate Central / PBS story, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is helping NJ spend tens of millions of dollars building dunes & seawalls to protect expensive Atlantic City homes and casinos.

Tens of millions are also being spent on Downbeach sand dunes, presumably to protect million-dollar oceanfront homes in Margate, a town that doesn’t want dunes.

The PBS story continues:The federal government has done little to protect the working class and poor Americans who live near bays up and down the East Coast, from a worsening flooding crisis. With municipal budgets stretched thin, lower-income neighborhoods built on low-lying land are enduring some of the worst impacts.

Taxpayer funds are being spent on projects like dune building that will likely have little to no value. FULL STORY
