• Margate & Ventnor to install bike racks at beachfront street ends
  • Reducing speed limit from 35-mph to 25-mph on Atlantic Ave.
  • A ‘road diet’ was recommended for Atlantic, Ventnor and Jerome avenues.

Benefits of a Road Diet:

  • Slow traffic. Squeeze 4 lanes of traffic into 2, creating one lane of traffic in each direction
  • Create center turn lane
  • Create bicycle lanes on both outer sides of street.
  • Provide dedicated, buffered lane for bicyclists
  • ‘Bump outs’ at intersections for ez street crossing by pedestrians

Margate Commissioner Blumberg likes the idea of a bike path on the beach, but would prefer to bring back the boardwalk.

The report supports the benefits of a bike path on the beach in Margate, much like the bike paths in North Wildwood and Venice Beach, California.
