Rusty Pipes & Bulldozers Invade Margate & Ventnor Beaches

The environmental & tourism nightmare for Summer 2017 has started. The State of NJ is getting an early start in delivering hulking pipes and heavy diesel equipment to the beach border of Ventnor & Margate.

Please advise children to stay away from uber-nasty, rusty pipes that are already blocking a portion of the beach.

Margate & Ventnor dredging and dune building is funded by taxpayers, via a Sandy Relief Fund.

Dunes will be 13 feet high and up to 100ft wide. Approx 3 blocks at a time will be affected as WEEKS MARINE, under the guidance of The Army Corp of Engineers and the NJ DEP, will pump sand onto beaches in sections, over the next 3 months. Yes, the height of the summer season.

The downbeach dune project will move from south to north, starting at Fredericksburg Ave. (border of Margate & Ventnor).  A new dune will be built from Fredericksburg to Buffalo Ave.

Then, bulldozers & pumps will…. oddly…. continue north to add even more sand to the already large & very tall, existing Ventnor dune system.

Gonna Lay Some Pipe. A massive length of piping will be laid providing dredge sand for the project. It will initially come ashore at Fredericksburg Ave. and will pump sand up the beach for the entirety of the project.

WARNING: Heavy diesel equipment will be parked on the volleyball courts, next to the C-Sure Children’s playground at Suffolk Ave & the Boardwalk while not in use. Please keep your children and pets away from that area.

The Ventnor Boardwalk will NOT be closed during dune building operations.

Bulldozer & pumping work will be around the clock… 7 days a week. Flood lights will be used from sun-down to sun-up.

The Ventnor portion of the project will take approx 5 weeks,  from June 8 thru July 13.

Margate will enjoy the sand-spewing festivities July 13 thru September 13. Then comes Longport.
