Ventnor Commissioners Reduce Public Comment, Adjust Monthly Meetings

Ventnor is modifying their commissioner meeting format. They will adopt a format that’s similar to Margate’s. Ventnor will also reduce the amount of time that members of the public can address city leadership.

  • Ventnor Commissioner Meetings will be now be held the 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month.
  • Meetings start at 5:30 p.m and will combine both workshop and action meetings.
  • Public comment will be limited to three minutes each.

Residents have demanded greater transparency from Ventnor Commissioners. They want greater accountability from department heads too.

Unlike Margate, Ventnor does not post meeting audio to the internet. Listening ‘on demand’ to recorded meetings is common for towns like Brigantine, Atlantic City & Margate. The audio is typically available within 24 hours. It can be listened to on YouTube.

Board meetings feature informal discussions and updates with department heads, issues under consideration; introduce and approve ordinances, hold public hearings on proposed ordinances.
