The Downbeach taxpayers of Margate, Ventnor & Longport may be forced to help out, even more, in the bail-out of Atlantic City.
Atlantic County Executive Denny Levinson wasn’t pleased to hear he won’t get the planned 13.5% of casino PILOT money. (payments in lieu of taxes)
Atlantic City Mayor, Don Guardian, along with NJ Gov. Chris Christie, think 10% of the controversial casino PILOT revenue is more than enough.
Note: the PILOT bill was developed, written & endorsed by those connected to the Atlantic City casino industry.
To make up the tax revenue short-fall, most Atlantic County towns, including Margate, Ventnor & Longport, could be forced to chip-in as Levinson passes the hat for mandatory contributions.
- Margate & Ventnor taxpayers could get socked with additional $338 County tax bill.
- Longport homeowners may pay additional $574 in Atlantic County taxes.
- Brigantiners could pay an additional $145.

In Brigantine, a town 1/8 the size of Scottsdale, they’re $20k per year. Have you not learned anything from casinos and how they routinely screw-over the good folks of Atlantic County?
Make the casinos pay higher taxes in order to lower the citizens taxes. You get nothing from casinos other than low paying jobs.
Atlantic City is not doing anything to help. The entire city needs a flush. Why does other towns have to pay and Atlantic City Fire Deputy Chiefs are getting a pay raise..
