We present this public information provided by the City to help taxpayers evaluate the municipal government’s 2023 budget and its allocation and expenditure of taxes and other revenue.
2023 SALARIES – CITY OF BRIGANTINE MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES
The US Census Bureau’s latest estimated population of Brigantine is 7,615.
That’s less than 2020 when Brigantine had 7,716 residents.
In 2010, Brigantine had 9,450.
A population trend is relevant when analyzing property taxes and the economic health of the community.
A salary includes the base salary, total longevity payments of $259,000 (included in union contracts simply for staying in the job), and stipends (33 of them).
Hourly rates are listed but not totaled. Not included are employee group health- insurance (budgeted $1.9 million), overtime, and state and federal statutory retirement/pension amounts.

The local purpose tax increases 3.7 cents, with a 2023 rate of 68.3 cents per $100 of assessed value.
In addition to the municipality, the 3-part property tax bill includes taxes due to the county and to the public school.
