LONGPORT – The Board of Commissioners introduced an ordinance Wednesday, Dec. 17 that would extend the workday for local contractors and help reduce exhaust and noise from mobile businesses. It would also change Chapter 116 of the city code to define work hours for landscape contractors.
The ordinance was introduced at the behest of builders and remodeling contractors who are working to complete home renovations before spring.
According to Commissioner Jim Leeds, contractors complained that the borough ordinance governing hours they can work is too prohibitive considering the limited daylight during the winter.
