Another Bocca Essex Ave Shutdown in Margate for Summer 2022?

For the third summer in a row, will Margate neighbors have to deal with another Bocca Restaurant takeover of Essex Ave?

‘Hasn’t been decided’ says the aggravated Mayor of Margate, Mike Becker at the March 3 Commisioners meeting. LISTEN >

LISTEN > Another Bocca Essex Ave Margate shut-down for Summer 2022?

As seen in Press of Atlantic City: Editorial board says Margate Commissioners should reopen North Essex Ave…. now. Blocking Essex Ave in Margate for Bocca Restaurant is not only a gift to one private business, but the street closure ‘interferes with access by fire and health emergency vehicles.’

NOTE: On Feb 17, 2022, Margate officials buried this important resolution within a ‘consent agenda’, where votes are taken on non-controversial issues.

I spoke to Commissioner Amodeo last year and he assured me that 2021 was the last year for shutting down Essex Ave
I sure hope that statement was true .

    If not………..

    1. Would Howard (Casel’s) then get permission to close a part of Gladstone Ave between Ventnor and Atlantic ave to put tables out for his deli patrons to eat their sandwiches?

      1. I get your point the point you’re trying to make but you’re using a terrible analogy. Bocca is an indoor restaurant who is being allowed to put seating outside. Casel’s is a supermarket with no seating or table service.

  2. Hell no, unless they pay for the privilege. Private businesses should not be profiting off public land. End of story.

  3. Essex Grandmom

Never forget, when Becker, Amodeo and Blumberg allow Bocca to block Essex Ave, they’re creating a safety hazard. Will take longer for Police and Fire to access this neighborhood.

    1. If the dictators again allow Bocca to use public property for profit: STOP PATRONIZING BOCCA and tell everyone to not go there.

      This is wrong.

  4. Any feelings on the Greenhouse using the public beach?
What about that monstrosity called Lambertis?
Whats going on there? Whose invested there?
New Boardwalk to a rotting Bayfront..
Any problem with Robert’s? No street..
Bocca ? Poll the neighbors who are redirected to their homes. I live on Douglas first block north . Last summer was well managed by city in parking passes for those residents.
The first year there were really no clear rules for music curfews it all came together so quickly so we could dine at ALL..(remember)
I hear it’s really just one angry person does 99% of the complaining and doesn’t live on Douglas Essex or oak Grove.
