William Reynolds, on behalf of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, is urging the community to remain vigilant and proactive as April is recognized as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
‘As we have seen in our most recent cases and prosecutions, abuse too often hides in the darkness and shadows,’ said Prosecutor Reynolds.
It is our collective responsibility to bring the light. Protecting children is not someone else’s job—it is all of ours.
The Prosecutor emphasized that safeguarding children extends beyond the home and into every environment where children should feel safe and supported.

‘We protect children everywhere—at home, in our schools, in youth sports organizations, and in every place, they should feel secure,’ Reynolds stated.
“The reality we continue to confront through our investigations is that danger can exist in spaces of trust. That is why awareness and action are critical.”
Prosecutor Reynolds highlighted the importance of recognizing warning signs and acting without hesitation.
‘A child who is fearful, withdrawn, or suddenly behaving differently may be asking for help without words,’ he said.

‘Pay attention. Trust your instincts. Act. Too often, silence enables abuse to continue. One call—one decision to speak up—can change the course of a child’s life.’
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is calling on all residents to take an active role in protecting children and reporting suspected abuse.
‘If something does not feel right, speak up. Make the call,’ Reynolds added. ‘You could be the difference in a child’s life. This April and every day, we must stand up for our children—because every child deserves to be safe, protected, and have their voice heard.’
Anyone with information regarding child abuse or neglect is urged to contact the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
