Teri Green Wait until all the out-of-towners see the beach for first time, and this is without the rest of the outfall pipes installed. What a waste. Crazy shit pushed on Margate citizens by NJ government. So much for “by the people for the people”.

Richard BrianWhat doesn’t our town extend the access mats over the dunes like Longport? Can’t be because we don’t pay enough taxes and they don’t have the money.

Mobi Mat

Mobi-mat ® portable nonslip roll-up Beach Access Mat to parks, fishing peers, picnic areas, condos, hotels, coastal resorts for people with disabilities, walkers and elderly visitors or parents with strollers.

Sea Isle News: After listening to complaints from local residents about the difficulties of walking through the deep beach sand, Sea Isle City is planning to spend $100,000 this year to buy more handicap-accessible “Mobi-Mats.”

Beach replenishment along Sea Isle’s shoreline brought wider beaches. But they are harder to walk on, especially for senior citizens or disabled people who struggle to navigate through the thick, powdery sand.

Sea Isle is installing more Mobi-Mats in time for the 2018 summer beach season.

Susan Kelleher The dunes did not correct the major flooding problem that comes from the bay. The dunes are not as bad as anticipated but most walkovers are difficult for older people. Just this week we twice saw older people having to rest on the steps after navigating the steep climb. Hopefully this will be corrected.

Glenn Klotz: Honestly, I can’t remember the last time Margate had a beach closing due to water pollution. Coincidence? We now have two new stormwater sewer outfall pipes. ( with three more in the works for next year)

Outfalls concentrate the runoff into fixed points. Our old system did the opposite; drained much of the water through 100 feet of pure beach sand that acted as a natural filter before it reached the ocean.

Half the beach is essentially useless empty space. No views. Limited access for many. This is unacceptable and can ONLY be remedied by adding a new boardwalk.
