My latest experience with Comcast in Ventnor was really bad…..again. That’s why I’m so happy to see competitors to Comcast, finally come into the Downbeach area. Hammer Fiber is just getting started here in Ventnor…with their high-speed internet service.
Why Comcast Internet Service stinks in Ventnor and all along the Jersey Shore.
The Comcast service & billing dept have been really bad for the past year, ever since I ordered the faster package of Internet service they offer.
I always like to have extra fast speeds for Internet, so I pay extra for the Comcast BLAST service. I needed that 150mb BLAST download speed for my work with digital clients. It was worth the extra charge. But…I never got over 95mb download speeds. So, I call to have technicians check the line, swap out equipment, make adjustments, etc. Nothing. I even asked for a credit to address the service I did NOT receive, but keep paying for. No can do.
Amazingly, Comcast told me they can’t credit me….until the problem is fixed. Huh?
Comcast has yet to fix the problem, even after multiple visits to my location….so they keep charging me….and keep promising me they’ll fix it.
Then recently, a Comcast tech admitted to me that my building CAN’T provide the super fast BLAST 150 mb speed, due to old wires in the building. So, unless my building upgrades the internal wires, this building along the Boardwalk will be stuck with slower internet speeds. Nothing over 94mb.
Ok, I get that. But Comcast needs to be honest about telling customers that they may NOT be able to get top speeds, due to issues within their apartment complexes. Comcast keeps this a secret….but takes your money anyway.
Now I can see why Comcast has been fined recently for their hideous customer service, specifically in regards to charging customers for services & products they didn’t order… or didn’t know they had. Read more about COMCAST FINES

Good thing Hammer Fiber is setting up shop in Ventnor. They’re one of many companies that see the need for competition in the local Internet & cable-tv space.
