The 2025 Atlantic City Airshow has been officially cancelled. That’s two years in a row.
The Greater Atlantic City Chamber calls it a ‘strategic pause’.
Why the cancellation?
Last year a major act backed out of the mid-week show. Logistically, producers and pilots say weekends are best.
Maybe it was the lack of sponsor support? Perception of unsafe streets in AC?
Or how about this…
Do stunt pilots want to fly through a maze of 1,000 ft wind turbines spinning in their flight path?
Did the offshore wind project cancel our beloved Atlantic City Airshow?
AC Mayor Marty Small and NJ Gov Murphy not commenting.
The Atlantic City Air Show was typically held on a Wednesday in August, with a ‘practice day’ on Tuesday.
The airshow is free to the public with viewing available from the beaches, boardwalk and nearby towns like Ventnor, Margate, and Brigantine.
Cancellation following in the footsteps of the once popular, beach concerts. Lest we forget, Atlantic City couldn’t find a way to salvage Miss America.
The AC Airshow attracted close to 500,000 visitors each summer to see the amazing Air Force Thunderbirds, Navy Blue Angels, U.S. Army Golden Knights and other flying wonders.
The Atlantic City Airshow, also known as “Thunder Over the Boardwalk,” was an annual airshow held over the Atlantic City beach, boardwalk and coastal waters. It’s one of the largest airshows in North America and has been a significant event since its inception in 2003.
No matter the reason for cancellation, what a shame. When it started while I was working in the city, the reason was to bring more action to the casinos and shops. Couldn’t be needed anymore than in this time frame. You can only surmise the true reason; but, what a sin. Air show was always amazing!!!!
