Dune Update JULY 3. Margate work will start July 5 at the border of Ventnor & Margate…and head towards Margate / Longport. It will take two months to finish Margate. Ventnor dune building will start in late August, when the dredge currently in Atlantic City at the inlet, works it’s way south to Ventnor.
Longport beach work starts in early September, but some Longport revetment / jetty rock work is going on now.

Surf already eroding extended beach on border of Ventnor & Margate. Security & safety precautions have been spotty during this project. See video.
The DEP, Dept of Environmental Protection, claims State of NJ had nothing to do with change of work schedule where Ventnor gets a break… but now Margate gets 2 months of summer dune building and beach disruption. #Beachgate? #Dunegate?
Was it dredge maintenance that caused the change? Maybe contractor; Weeks Marine, was too slow with their progress? Was it pure revenge for Margate pushing back against an expensive project they didn’t want?
