According to reports from Scott’s Dock in Margate, summer flounder (fluke) continue to yield high-volume catches throughout the bay channels.
While short fluke dominate the action, solid keepers up to 4–5 pounds are taking baits in 10 to 14 feet of water, especially around the turn of the outgoing tide.
Naked live minnows and small Gulp! rigs are keeping rods bent with shorts, but sizing up to 5-inch Gulp! grubs or squid and mackerel strip baits is key to pulling out keepers.
Bridge pilings, docks, and rockpiles in the back are also holding a solid mix of sheepshead (up to 6–7 pounds) and keeper tog (blackfish) taking sand fleas or fiddler crabs.
Ventnor Pier & Oceanfront
Anglers fishing off the Ventnor Pier are bouncing bucktails or Gulp! close to the pilings for fluke.
