Downbeach PickleBall Growing. Ventnor Offering Lessons.

Enthusiasm is growing for the oddly name racket sport, Pickleball.

Kinda like a combination of badminton, tennis, and ping pong.

Margate already has 3 courts devoted to Pickleball. Ventnor just created 2 this year.

Ventnor even has Pickleball lessons. Imagine that.

Every Thursday at Suffolk Avenue Tennis Courts. 6 to 8p beginning June 21 thru August 30.

Two, three, or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials. They hit a perforated polymer ball, similar to a wiffle ball, over a net.

Pickleball, invented in 1965. The game is named after a cocker spaniel named ‘Pickles’. He loved to chase stray balls and hide them in the bushes.

All ages can play. Groups of two or four players.
