Downbeach Foodie Favorite: Ventura’s Greenhouse

Ventura’s Greenhouse

The history of the Greenhouse goes back approximately 100 years.

  • Early 1900: A six room apartment house.
  • 1932: During prohibition it was known as a speakeasy.
  • Late 30’s & early 40’s: A tavern serving patrons such as the notorious Dillinger and friends.
  • 1950’s to present day: the most popular summer spot in town with a beer garden facing the ocean.

The Greenhouse has survived many major storms. Even though they’ve given the building a face-lift, the personality of the original house still remains. They serve lunch and dinner daily in their cozy café. Dinners served nightly in the ocean view fine dining room. The heated rooftop deck is open Saturdays and Sundays.

What They Say About Ventura’s Greenhouse

Always a fun time at this restaurant right near the beach. Brand new rooftop deck is absolutely amazing. My kids love the pizza. Check it out right across from Lucy.

I have been going to Ventura’s for about 15 years! The spinach and tomato pie is still one of my favorites! Overall, I do enjoy the place. The food is really good and the prices are very reasonable!
