Fire broke out on Saturday afternoon, June 18, in an apartment above Sack o Subs in Ventnor.
Amidst strong winds, heavy black smoke billowed from the structure.
The fire happened only a week after being reopened under new management.
Anthony Sacco recently bought the popular Ventnor sub shop from Fred Spitalnick, a franchisee.
The Ventnor Fire Department was assisted by Longport, Margate, Atlantic City and Pleasantville.
An investigation is underway. Amount of damage still unknown.

OMG. Just when Fuzzy Sacco’s son was to restore sandwiches to what they used to be.
So sorry to see this happen!
Thank you. We were happy to restore our reputation and are very sorry that it may be postponed for a while. We hope to be back soon.

Excellent Job, VFD! The high winds make for a fast fire. Great stop.
Sounds like some kind of lightning!!
They say it started in the apartment above so they will have to investigate exactly what it was
