
Awards have been announced for 2025 by the board members of the Herb Stern Longport Scholarship Fund.
Nineteen Longport students will receive a total of $28,400.
Scholarship winners are Longport students who are graduating high school seniors planning to attend college in the Fall, and those already attending college or graduate school.
Students are chosen based on their academic record, test scores, sports and other extracurricular activities, work, and community volunteering.
Awards have increased over the 19 years and the Fund has awarded a total of over $240,000 over that time.
Scholarships are funded by contributions from Longport year-round and seasonal residents.
Fund is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.

Herb Stern Longport Scholarship Fund Announces 2025 Awards
2025 scholarship recipients:
- Jackson Agnellini attends Virginia Tech where he is studying finance and real estate.
- Tommy Armstrong, graduates from Ocean City High School in May and will attend the University of Florida.
- Luca Bahuriak will graduate from Ocean City High School in May and attend Penn State to study communications and film production.
- Nick Bimbo is also a member of 2025 class of OCHS and plans to attend Rowan University and will pursue firefighting studies.
- Eva Engel attends the University of Tampa where she studies fine art and design.
- Raquel Gresham is pursuing a master’s degree in midwifery at Thomas Jefferson University.
- Jonah Hammerstedt attends The Medical College at Jefferson University and will be a physician.
- Kal Heyman graduates high school in May and plans to attend St. Bonaventure in the Fall. He intends to become a teacher and coach.
- Thomas Holton graduates from OCHS in May. Plans to attend Rosemont College to pursue a career in sports management.
- Tyler Lawler attends the University of South Carolina and is studying business and economics.
- Jake Meli attends Villanova University studying Management Information Systems, math and computer science.
- John Meli attends Stockton University where he is studying accounting to become a CPA.
- Jack Schiavo attends St. Joseph’s University majoring in economics with an interest in physics.
- Birdie Stewart will graduate this year from the College of Charleston, majoring in Finance.
- Kallan Tripician attends Wesleyan University, majoring in Biology and Earth & Environmental Sciences with a minor in Informatics and Modeling.
- Kannon Tripician will graduate from Ocean City High School and attend Wesleyan University to study physics and engineering.
- Macey Valtri is at Lynn University and is pursuing a degree in business.
- Madison Valtri is also at Lynn University and is studying communications and business.
- Nicholas Volpe attends the University of South Carolina majoring in Biology to become a physician.
These scholarships will be publicly presented at the Longport Commission meeting.
June 18 at 4:00 pm. Public is invited to attend.

This year, donations of $500 or more will receive a thank you from the Fund in the form of a $100 gift card to Luciano Lamberti’s Restaurant and Sunset Marina on the bay in Margate.
