Vendor Bids $111,000 to Sell Ice Cream on Margate Beach

Selling Ice Cream on the beach in MARGATE is big business. Each year, vendors bid on the rights to serve up fudgesicles, bombpops and chipwiches to hungry Margate beach-goers.

The winning bid via live auction for Summer 2015 was $99,000. For 2016, a whopping $111,000. was the winning bid.

Jack and Jill Ice Cream of Egg Harbor Township won the rights to sell creamy and cool treats on the beach from Coolidge to Fredricksburg ave. from May 1 to Oct. 1.

The City has ultimate pricing approval. Here are some of the items:

  • $1.50 – 8 oz water
  • $2 – 16.9 oz water
  • $3 – large water w/ sport top
  • $2 – Popsicle
  • $2.50 – flavored ice and Fudgsicle
  • $3 large Italian ices
  • $3.50 large ice cream sandwich
  • $2.50 for BombPop
  • $3 for FruitStix
  • $3.50 for FrozeFruit
  • $3.50-$4 Chipwich, ChocoTacos
