Almost two decades ago, Margate resident and boxing trainer, Jon Simon, wanted to boost contributions for the local ‘Toys for Tots’ holiday program.
Simon’s idea: Incentivized boxing clients. Get a free training session if you bring a new, unwrapped toy to the boxing session.
This was the simple start of the popular ‘Boxx 4 Tots’ program, a registered non-profit that uses donations to collect and buy toys for kids in need.
The Margate Municipal Building is the new, Boxx for Tots staging venue. Drop off a toy during business hours.
You can also drop your toys off at Island Gym and Dollar General in Ventnor.
Donations accepted thru Dec. 22.
Cash donations are welcome too. Write a check to BOXX FOR TOTS or Venmo @BOXX4TOTS.
The donated toys will be dropped off at churches and community groups that have reached out for help.
