Legal UPDATE: Atlantic City’s Marty and La’Quetta Small

The Mayor of Atlantic City and his wife, the school district superintendent, are both charged with abusing their teenage daughter. So ugly and sad.

Allegation: during the months of December 2023 and January 2024, the defendants physically and emotionally abused their 15/16-year-old-daughter on multiple occasions. During one incident, on January 13, 2024, Marty Small, Sr. is alleged to have hit his daughter multiple times in the head with a broom causing her to lose consciousness.

Another incident alleged that Marty Small, during an argument with his daughter, continuously threatened to hurt her by “earth slamming” her down the stairs, grabbing her head and throwing her to the ground, and smacking the weave out of her head.

Allegations:

  • Marty Small punching his daughter repeatedly in her legs causing bruising.
  • La’Quetta Small punched her daughter multiple times on her chest leaving bruising.
  • La’Quetta Small dragged her daughter by her hair then struck her with a belt on her shoulders leaving marks.
  • La’Quetta Small punched her daughter in the mouth during an argument.

These incidents were investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Victims Unit.

Marty and LaQuetta Small charged with:

  • Endangering – Abuse/Neglect of A Child
  • Terroristic Threats
  • Threat of Crime of Violence
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Attempt/Cause Significant Bodily Injury.

NJ State v. Marty Small Sr. and La’Quetta Small.

Motions to suppress for Marty Small and La’Quetta Small (indictment 24-09-2951) are scheduled for March 14 at 9 a.m. before Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury at the Atlantic County Criminal Courts Complex, 4997 Unami Blvd., Mays Landing.

A hearing on the motion to dismiss the indictment for Constance Days-Chapman is scheduled for April 4 at 9 a.m. before Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury at the Atlantic County Criminal Courts Complex, 4997 Unami Blvd., Mays Landing.

Oddly, LaQuetta Small wasn’t forced to step aside until a judgement is handed down. Note: ACHS principal, Constance Days Chapman, was forced to temporarily step down with pay. Why is LaQuetta Small still in charge of protecting and teaching young students?

Less than 25% of ACHS students can pass a simple math or grammar test.

  1. They’re both a disgrace and it’s unbieveable that they’re both in office!! How is this allowed to go on??!!! No wonder8th grade Ventnor and Margate parents are scrambling to get their chdten in other school lotteries!! This is horrendous, that our tax dollars are paying for these 2! The fact that no one has stepped up and taken them out of office shows just how corrupt this area is!!!
