Longport Library Needs Input for 3 Year Strategic Plan

3 Year Plan Needed.

What does the future hold for the recently independent, Longport Public Library?

The Longport Library Board of Trustees want to find out. Can you take the survey?

They’re looking for public input to include in their 3-year, strategic plan. Determining the direction the Longport Library.

What’s good? What could be better?

A mailer is being sent out as well.

  • Library’s hours of operation
  • Borrowing preferences
  • Use of technology
  • Programs for adults and children
  • Possible expansion?

Results of survey will be used to develop a 3 year plan.

At the end of 2016, Longport broke off from the Atlantic County Library System. Longport believes they can run a library on their own.

2019 was first year of having a Longport Library Board of Trustees.

  1. Why do we need a library? We have margates library at no cost to longports taxpayers. This is just another way to waste money. Plus we have more employees added to the payroll with benefits. We voted out of Atlantic counties system not to add our own.

    1. Take from the other but why give back anything ..

What a horrible sentiment use the next towns library facility and materials let them pay for it…
sounds like the same attitude that Margate residents have about using Ventnors boardwalk at Ventnors expense rather than contributing something to the community that they may have to pay for.

      1. Why most of the users of the Longport Library are from other towns. We give free lunches on the longport tax dollar and now we have a few other employees to cover. Most people use the internet and kindle. The library is like the encyclopedia wasted shelf space.

  3. The library is important. However, more concerning is the fact that the governing body is trying to stop traffic traveling from Margate to the Kennedy Bridge along Sunset Avenue. Currently this road is one way from 32nd Street to the bridge. The Commissioners want to make this road one way TOWARD MARGATE from 32nd Street to 33rd Street. This would prevent many people from accessing this road to arrive at the bridge while diverting traffic to other parts of town.
This is being done to please one rich man who recently purchased a home on the bay and he doesn’t want traffic in front of his mansion! (He is also friends with a Commissioner!).
Of course the meeting to approve this ordinance is being held in the off-season when few people can oppose it (Wednesday, October 23 at 4:30 in the Library).
Please come out and oppose this abomination!!!
