Longport Police Seek Assistance in Car Theft

The Longport Police Department is investigating a series of early morning incidents involving a green four door Ford Bronco with a black soft top.

The vehicle was involved in a hit-and-run crash on North 33rd Avenue and Amherst Avenue, and criminal mischief to a parked vehicle on Yarmouth Avenue near Ventnor Avenue before fleeing the area.

Through a coordinated investigation with Margate Police, it was determined the Ford Bronco had been stolen overnight from Mays Landing and was the same vehicle observed throughout the Down Beach area.

Surveillance video out of Margate captured the vehicle and an occupant attempting to gain entry into other vehicles on Amherst Avenue. Still photographs from those videos are being released in an effort to identify those responsible.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents or who can identify the individuals pictured are asked to email Officer Saggese at JSaggese@LongportPD.org.

The investigation remains active. The Longport Police Department reminds residents to lock their vehicles, remove valuables from plain view, and report any suspicious activity immediately.
