Margate considers banning helium balloon release

MARGATE – If you’re planning to release helium balloons at your festive occasion, city officials may be about to burst your bubble.

What floats 5 miles up eventually comes down, and some of it washes up on beaches and ends up in the stomachs of wildlife. Helium-filled balloons may disappear from view, but they do not disappear from the environment, according to some environmentalists.
