The following is a post from MHA president, Jay Weintraub: On March 20, I spoke to Tim Perskie. He told me he represents the slate of Mayor Becker, and Commissioners Amodeo and Blumberg. We had spoken last Thursday with regards to our association sponsoring a public forum to meet all the candidates running for the Commissioners positions.

We will be asking the public for their questions that they would like the candidates to address and will choose 10 to 20 of those questions.

I shared with Tim the following information and he told me the current Margate Commissioners are all in. Candidate / challenger Calvin Tesler is also in.

The MHA, Margate Homeowners Association is excited. We’ve been proactive with the organizing of this event.

The Margate Candidate Forum will be Saturday, May 4 at 2p. The location will most likely be the Ross School. We’re just waiting for final approval from the school board. We chose a time that we believe will serve most of Margate.

We have contacted the League of Women Voters of New Jersey to act as impartial moderators. They informed us we have to have the candidates sign a letter of commitment. They will then bring in the people to run the meeting. Tim Perskie said that should not be a problem.

We have reached out to Ed Berger of the Margate Business Association to see if they will co sponsor this event with us. This will be a good team effort of the businesses and residents of Margate if we work together.

As of March 21, Ed Berger of the MBA has agreed to partner with the MHA.

Jay Weintraub, President MHA.
