  1. We just want to thank everyone for their support to preserve Margate’s beach because “Its beauty rests in its simplicity and lack of manmade structures” which in a grave hypocrisy is stated on pg 6 of the pro BW report. Let’s use valuable tax $ for needed infrastructure improvements like flooding instead of wasting for an over priced amenity BW the DEP And owners of beach rights will never allow to be built.

  2. the boardwalk is for the people, all the people, it is for the senior lady from jefferson ave who can no longer go to the beach and for the 80 year old gentleman who enjoys sitting a smelling the salt air…the boardwalf offers this all margate people. stop thinking negative about the property owners , the dep….it can and will be done, it is about the people, the salt air, the boardwalk bench that awaits our seniors…margate is a seaside town for all the people

    1. That is the hard truth. Sure, a boardwalk sounds great, totally love the idea and I am all about helping senior citizens get around by the beach. But I am not about helping drugged out A/C transients waddling their way into my neighborhood after dark. Bad enough they already steal our bikes if left out by accident. Increased policing will be absolutely required. Not defunding.

  3. The beauty of our city is in its simplicity which is slowly being stolen. Water parks and mini golf are examples. Shorefront development. A fight to keep Lucy. Bayfront structures obscuring sunsets. Taller new homes resemble Ocean City. Take a stand. Say no more.

  4. The picture accompanying this post makes it appear that Mayer Becker is behind this ballot initiative. If so that is FALSE. This proBW ballot has been put forward by a small but vocal proBW group. The proBW grp and Margate Community group has blocked anyone who asks for transparency to understand true cost to tax payers, Where is the construction and engineering reports they based they numbers on? Did their numbers include litigation, insurance, extensive permitting, police, fire, electric, water, maintenance, payments to beach owners for eminent domain, environmental studies, engineering to attach the board walk to streets around driveways and pinch points, engineering sewer heads into BW, removing lifeguard shack at pinch points, updated costs for wood which has gone up 60% etc etc Where is the report on possible crime, effects on traffic, parking, house values, Margate bond rating, depletion of resources for urgent Margate capital project like flooding, It is unfair to the Margate voter to filibuster their ability to get information to make an informed decision.

  5. The “rebuild the boardwalk” document has a whole lot of “coulds” and “shoulds” in it. Before spending $285,000 on a “study” it is prudent to know actual costs. This is one Pandora’s box of variables I can’t afford to pay for.

    1. The truth is it will cost twice as much as budgeted and take twice as long to build. That’s what happens when government is involved due to their incompetence. Plus, we all know the corrupt 3 Amigos will steal plenty and give fat no bid contracts to their cronies.

    2. Jodi
The reason for the referendum is yo fund out what the costs will be.
What you wrote makes no sense at all.
Do you always make logical decisions of emotional decisions?
It appears that this matter has you making emotional decisions with the people against making suppositions with no study to back up what they are saying.
Vote yes and then you will have the facts to make a logical decision.

  6. I have been on the Ventnor boardwalk at night many times and there is zero crime and zero kids “hanging out.”

It is beautiful walking or riding bikes at night on the boardwalk while looking out at the moon over the ocean.

Anyone who is considering believing this false fear mongering should take a walk on the Ventnor Boardwalk first.
