Margate Mayor, Michael Collins has updated local homeowners on how to apply for a dredging permit:
Mayor Collins: By now, many are aware that Margate’s long-term dredging project will be completed in phases over the next decade.
Margate holds U.S. Army Corps and NJ DEP permits that also let individual waterfront owners dredge their own docks without securing their own private permits.
The first phase will dredge the area from the Margate Bridge to Orient Canal and a small section near the Washington Avenue Municipal Pier.
Dredging application fee = $200, inspection fee =$800, security deposit = $2,000.
Homeowners are encouraged to complete the standard Margate Municipal Permit Application and submit to the Margate City Building Department at 9001 Winchester Ave.
You must attach copy of your recorded property deed.
Margate City is working with City Engineer Ed Dennis to finalize more detailed information via Margate-NJ.com.
