New Short-Term Rental Taxes: Good News For Realtors, Bad News for AirBnB and VRBO.

Ventnor Margate Downbeach News
Rental Taxes

Looks like those looking for a weekly summer rental in Margate or Ventnor are trying to avoid online rental sites like Airbnb, VRBO and Home-Away. These companies have been forced to tack on new fees for 2019. According to emerging reports, this could add up to $800 to your weekly rate. Your mileage may vary.

The newly enacted 17% tax on weekly, NJ rentals, also applies to private homeowners who rent their homes directly. Want to rent a vacation home down the shore but avoid that substantial rate hike? You gotta go direct to a realtor.
The realtor associations lobbied hard to keep out of this taxing mess. Good for them. Not so good for others.
Note: individual homeowners who rent out their properties, now have to collect NJ state taxes.
