
On Thursday November 20, 2025, at 6:16PM Ventnor City Communications received multiple 911 calls for a Pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle at Ventnor and Newport Avenues.
Further reports advised the striking vehicle had fled the area westbound on Ventnor Avenue. Upon patrols arrival they located a male laying in the roadway.
The 92-year-old Ventnor resident had sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Motor Vehicle Accident – Pedestrian Hit and Run – Driver Charged.
The accused vehicle was described as a white Volvo SUV, possible model XC40. In a collaborative effort between both the Patrol Division and Detective Bureau the investigation found the accused vehicle to have a Delaware registration.
Further investigation revealed the driver of the accused vehicle to be Leslie Myers, a 51-year-old female from Weldin Park, DE.
Myers had been charged on a warrant with 1 count of Assault by Auto, 1 count of Leaving the Scene of an Accident-causing Serious Bodily Injury along with several motor vehicle summons.
On January 7, 2026, Myers was taken into custody by O’hara Twp. Police Department PA and is currently being held in the Allegheny County Jail in Pennsylvania awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
This investigation was handled by primary officer, Raymond Snyder, with the assistance of Detective Damian Guanchez. Chief Joseph Wootton said “This case was extremely impactful to my officers.
They put in a lot of hours identifying the accused and bringing charges forth. I am proud of the hard work and effort they went through in bringing closure to this investigation.”
