An organization for individuals with disabilities in SJ for sports competition in Special Olympics.

  • Mission: The program is designed to help children and adults with disabilities prepare for Special Olympics programs, focusing on sports like pickleball, bocce, bowling, and cornhole. Beyond sports, the founders emphasize building an inclusive community through social activities.
  • Origin: The program evolved after a group of friends formed a local pickleball club and decided they wanted to do more for the community.
  • The Event: The interview takes place during an open house event hosted at Pickle Juice, the indoor pickleball facility in Ventnor. The venue owners fully donated the facility and their time to support the initiative. The event saw a large turnout, registered participants and volunteers.
  • Future Plans: The organization is looking to raise awareness and funds, with plans to host a fundraising tournament in December.
  • How to Connect: Those interested in learning more or volunteering can find updates on the “South Jersey Avengers” Facebook page.
