Playground Behind Longport Boro Hall, Remove or Replace?

The Board of Commissioners in Longport are likely to take down the playground behind City Hall. The equipment is potentially hazardous, old, rusty and beyond repair.

The playground is on Bay Haven Drive at South 24th Ave and could be removed by later this Spring. There’s no budget to replace the playground at this time, but a fundraiser could be held.

“Why take a chance where a child could get hurt?” said Mayor Nick Russo. The commission will decide if the playground should be replaced. Some question if Longport even needs a playground back there. Mayor Russo would like to see more park benches in that location, as it’s a popular gathering place for those who watch those amazing Longport sunsets over the bay.
