Facing at least two years of traffic detours and neighborhood disruption, Tropicana Casino has now come out in opposition to the proposed offshore windfarms along the beaches of Atlantic City.

See letter below.

Atlantic City fears disruptive wind project will destabilize multiple neighborhoods, especially the 5th Ward. Most residents are not aware of the project’s full scope.

AC Councilmember Maria Lacca represents residents of the 5th ward, a multi-ethnic neighborhood targeted for two years of disruption, construction work, and the loss of playgrounds / open space.

One key concern: Elevated water tables force high-voltage power lines to be buried only a few feet deep. This may cause potential health issues says AC Councilman, George Tibbitt.

Installation of underground cables will impact street traffic in multiple AC neighborhoods.

Street construction will have negative impact on business for Tropicana Atlantic City and adjacent retail and residential properties.

  1. Atlantic City already has a small wind farm in the back bay. Why can’t they continue with the wind farm in the back bay areas instead of the ocean? It’s a win win.

No problem with electric lines in the streets and neighborhoods. And it would be more pleasing to all the beach goers to not have to see those wind turbines from the beach.

No problems with killing whales and other Marne life. Not an eyesore.

It would be pleasing to see them in the back bay while entering the city

    1. Do you believe that beach goers are the only people that have a right to a beautiful view? Do the bayfront property owners and boaters not have that same right?

    1. I don’t want wind or oil near the shoreline. Simple. Problem is that when you go out 100 miles it becomes near impossible to maintain and sustain windmills vs. oil platforms. Also, you need considerably more (100s or 1000s) of windmills to make an energy dent. Last point, Biden just blocked all shoreline’s (east and west coasts, 625 miles to be precise). However, he would not block windmills. So, let’s play even and think more economically as people struggle with living/surviving wages.

We need wind energy to supplement our current electricity flowing into the New Jersey grid.
The demand for electricity is expected grow 7-10 percent in the next few years.
The energy transition and additional data centers are making utilities seek additional sources
of electricity to meet the demands.
Artificial Intelligence is also contributing to increased demand Today and for years to come.
A temporary inconvenience to locals casinos cannot be the common sense reason to delay
    the project(s).
