Stockton has deficit of $20 million for fiscal year 2027. State support has been cut in half.

Jim Kennedy of @ACEConPolicy : University Presidents are at the top of their food chain. University Presidents fear very little. They fear not most budget crises. Nor enrollment collapse. University Presidents do fear a faculty vote of no confidence. Stockton’s ability to move faculty to Atlantic City is going to require a major investment in the Chelsea Neighborhood quality of life.

Why the drop in Stockton attendance? Concerned parents and high school seniors cite expense, location, DEI classes, dark streets. Covid mandates for students, not staff. Vax mandates for remote students. Sanctuary campus. Social Justice activism. Crime, drug use, homeless.

Vax was optional for Stockton administration, but mandatory for students. Also: student enrollment must take courses on racial and social justice issues.

Change curriculum. Poll those accepted but did not enroll and ask them why. Offer courses in hot careers such as engineering or medicine. Partner with a medical franchise such as Atlantic Care.
