Ventnor City Hall reminds all of rules when walking dogs on the boardwalk and beach.
Leashed dogs allowed on beach from October 1 thru May 15. They can be on beach area touched by high tide.
From May 16 thru September 30, dogs on leashes are allowed on beach between 7p to 9p.
Dogs not allowed on boardwalk at any time for extended walks. They may use ramps and stairs to cross to beach and must always be on leash.
Public Comment:
Howard: Hey Ventnor, who is enforcing anything? Why no summer police patrolling beach as soon as lifeguards leave? Why are dogs allowed on beach from May to September when we all pay through beach tags and taxes to keep it clean? They (owners) use the beach like a giant litter box.
Anne: Beach rules are enforced but there is no enforcement on the boardwalk. Dogs always being walked on the Ventnor boardwalk.
Gianna: It’s a shame for people who are responsible dog owners and follow the rules and regulations regarding leashed animals. I totally understand if you’re like a summer person and you don’t know the rules & regulations regarding dogs being on the leash and boardwalk, but it’s the owner‘s responsibility to find out what those rules of regulations are.
I hope the new incoming VENTNOR Police Chief will instruct summer-time police officers on BOARDWALK to enforce the NO DOGS ON THE BOARDWALK RULE.
Also, BICYCLE RIDING IN EVENING WHEN NO DAYLIGHT. Past enforcement has been poor.
We need large signs on the boardwalk that state DOGS are NEVER Allowed On Boardwalk, and that you’ll be fined if caught violating Ventnor law.
Police must not be afraid to issue tickets to people who walk their dogs on the boardwalk.
I was on the boardwalk yesterday morning, and I saw probably a dozen or more dogs on the boardwalk, as well as dog poop.
Come on Ventnor, put up some big signs and start writing tickets for violators! Don’t be afraid to offend dog owners!
