Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America. It’s a fun, easy-to-learn mix of 3 sports — tennis, badminton and ping-pong.

That’s just one reason why the Atlantic City Pickleball Open Indoor Championships were so successful last week.

But there’s another reason too, a local connection.

Sy & Gloria Sussman of Ventnor

Randy Sussman spearheaded the idea of a huge, Atlantic City based tournament with some close friends.

41 courts were set up inside the Atlantic City Convention Center. Over 750 participants competed in the 6 day long tournament.

Randy Sussman’s parents are Sy and Gloria. Both live and play next door in Ventnor.

Sy Sussman is 88 and can often be found on the Ventnor pickleball courts.

Randy was inspired in part by what he witnessed: his parents having a blast on Ventnor’s pickleball courts.

And that’s kinda how the very first, Atlantic City Pickleball Open was started.

It’s the largest indoor pickleball tournament.

Atlantic City Pickleball Open Indoor Championship has three-year deal to hold the event in Atlantic City through 2024.

Randy Sussman is Pickleball Entertainment Consultants managing director.
