Ventnor will soon start what looks to be a complete overhaul of the pickleball, tennis and basketball courts at Somerset Ave. and the boardwalk.
Key features of this offseason project include:
Pickleball / Tennis Court Improvements
- Milling / paving tennis and pickleball courts.
- Fence replacement and modifications.
- Improvements to interior courtyard area.
- Installation of court nets and benches.
- Install of shade, trash and recycling receptacles.
Cost: To be determined.
Project Timeline: Engineering design solicitation will occur shortly.
Basketball Court Improvements
The basketball court on S. Somerset Ave.
- Undergo critical restoration.
- Chain link fence will be replaced.
Cost: TBD
Project Timeline: The bid will be advertised for this project and is expected to be awarded in October 2024.

What about the playground, which is in great disrepair? Will it be repaired as part of this project?
There is a lot of wasted space around the pickleball courts that could be used for additional courts. Fences between each court is also needed.
shade cover is badly neede on the tot side over the swings it’s grueling in the sun for both the kids and persons pushing the swing for lengths of time
