On Saturday November 12, 2022, at 11:19 AM, a resident of 5200 Boardwalk contacted the Ventnor City Police Department reporting her vehicle was stolen overnight from the parking lot of the Regency Towers Condominiums.
An investigation conducted by Officer James Franco located surveillance cameras in that area which showed a male committing the theft of the motor vehicle around 4:00 AM on the morning of November 12th.
Later that evening, Sergeant Marc Franco Jr. was on patrol around Weymouth and Winchester Avenues, when he spotted a male who matched the clothing description of the suspect wanted in connection with the earlier motor vehicle theft. Sgt. Franco Jr. summoned additional officers to the area, and upon attempting to stop the male, he fled on foot.
While fleeing from officers, he discarded several items down an alleyway as well as a bag. After a foot pursuit, the male located and taken into custody. He was identified as Gregory J. Ganski, 22, from Williamstown NJ. A search of the alleyway located a 9MM handgun, and the bag which Ganski threw contained the key to the stolen vehicle.
The stolen vehicle was later located several blocks from where Sergeant Franco Jr. initially observed Ganski and returned to the owner.
Ganski was charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Resisting Arrest, Hindering Apprehension, Obstructing the Administration of Law, Forgery, Receiving Stolen Property, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Defaced Firearm, and Possession of a Weapon by Certain Persons Not Permitted to Possess.
Ganski also had multiple outstanding warrants and was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Release submitted by Chief Joe Fussner
Who gave Ganski the key?? Hmmm
Or perhaps more simply, he stole the handbag of the car’s owner, as one of the things thrown was the bag of the owner.
It was a bag not a handbag. Who’d leave their handbag and car key in an unlocked and
unsecured parking garage of a building loaded w/ high end cars lot Stosh..
