Ventnor Wants Higher Short-Term Rental Mercantile Fees

In order to operate a short-term rental (STR) business within a residential neighborhood, Ventnor will soon impose a flat mercantile fee of $750 per year. The city will no longer charge STR fees based on number of bedrooms.

During the Oct 24 Ventnor meeting, Commissioner Landgraf and Mayor Kriebel discussed how challenging it was to track actual STR violations of city ordinance.

Ventnor currently has a 3 night rental minimum but was shown to lack proper enforcement of that STR law.

  1. I guess Ventnor found a way to control the Airbnb’s. Mine is less than 200 square-foot located in my home with a private entrance and the Mercantile fee started out as $100 and now to jumps to $750.

Seems like they’re just trying to put the small mom and Pop places out of business.

    Well touché Ventnor, it’s working!
