Local Business Spotlight.

Let’s meet entrepreneur, Nikki Hirsch, of ‘Rock and Stars’.

Greatest business influence. Who or what inspired you?

I grew up in a family business. My great-grandfather started a one-man electrical shop in South Philly back in 1919. The next 3 generations grew this into a sizeable manufacturing company.

That entrepreneurial drive in the bloodline, paired with regular business conversations around the dinner table always inspired ingenuity and a strong work ethic in me.

How did you get started with jewelry?

Rocks and Stars is a passion project that combines my two loves – music and nature. I’ve been making jewelry since childhood.

During Covid, I reconnected with this favorite creative pastime. I love to work with the natural elements of gemstones and metals, creating pieces of wearable art for clients to enjoy.

My design aesthetic is influenced by rock-n-roll, hence the company name which is a play on “rock stars,” who are, incidentally, still a big part of my day job.

Rocks and Stars is handmade, one-of-a-kind jewelry, inspired by rock with a nod to the stars. Each piece from Rocks and Stars is a complete original and will never be duplicated.

Nikki thoughtfully curates every design and assembles it by hand.

Nikki Hirsch: My products are made of semi-precious gemstone beads, such as opal, tourmaline and topaz and, and precious beaded gemstones such as sapphire, emerald, ruby and pave diamonds. I pair the stones with a variety of mixed metals, such as sterling silver and demi-fine 14k gold-filled chains, clasps and beads.

Client Testimonials

“This is power jewelry. Absolutely stunning and unique signature piece. Well crafted and a special gift for yourself or someone special. Super duper fast, friendly and professional.” – Usafa

“Most beautiful necklace I own. Shop owner was so nice & worked with me on adjusting the chain length. I really appreciate your help, and I’ve worn my necklace every day since I got it. New favorite necklace! Definitely recommend this shop!” – Sam

“This is a beautifully detailed bracelet with a unique, one-of-a-kind clasp. I love the contrast of the gold vermeil clasp against the oxidized sterling silver of the bracelet. The bracelet is both timeless and modern at the same time, thanks to the wonderful use of mixed metals and diamonds to enhance the overall look. It is a great layering piece, but also looks lovely with a charm attached. As a (multiple) repeat customer with this vendor, I can only say that if you fall in love with one of Nikki’s one-of-a-kind pieces, then get it before it disappears. You will be delighted to own a unique and beautiful Rocks and Stars creation :)” – Melinda

“Nikki, you are amazingly talented truly a Rock * Star. I just love my bracelet. Thank you for making it so special with your love, and positive good vibes. This bracelet and I are going on a journey. I don’t how long it will take, but I thank you for being a part of it. The workmanship is perfect, I just keep looking at it saying how meticulously it was created, you can see the pride and love in your work. Thank you again.” – Dawn
