Rusty Silverman Lifeguard Art Update: July 20, 2023

Summer 2023 has been fruitful, full of action, competition, athletics and good ocean conditions.

Photo shoots at the beach at these inspiring lifeguard events is pure pleasure.

Competitions that evoked most interest have been ones where women have competed.

The Longport Women’s Lifeguard Invitational was held under beautiful conditions. The surf dash was the most exciting event. Ocean City just beat out Upper Township.

The Paddleboard race was equally exciting and close, but my favorite picture was the very colorful Diamond Beach Board.

The Brigantine Invitational also had women competitors with the mixed doubles being my favorite event.

Brigantine had the biggest waves so far!

The Cape May Beach Patrol SuperAthalon. A sprint triathlon which included a 2.3 mile run, a 1 1/2 mile row, and a very difficult 1/4 mile swim with an unfavorable tide.

This was first time I saw swimmers enter a rough ocean, alongside a jetty which looked dangerous.
