Due to ongoing investigations into ‘discrepancies’ in its records, the Ventnor City Code Enforcement office was closed on Monday, June 19. That’s according to Ventnor officials.

From BreakingAC :

Ventnor City’s Department of Code Enforcement is under investigation, the police chief confirmed Monday. The office was closed as the investigation is conducted, Chief Joe Fussner said.

The probe is a joint effort between the Police Department and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Details regarding the discrepancies were not disclosed on Monday.

The Ventnor Code Enforcement office is managed by Jimmie Agnesino.

He is responsible for overseeing construction permitting and inspection materials.

The city’s Finance Department discovered issues over the past few days, as stated in a social media post.

  1. Finally maybe “PAY TO PLAY” will be brought out in the open. Ventnor City is crooked and it’s about time for an investigation concerning favoritism.
I wonder who blew the whistle!!

  2. There was house at corner of my block at Richards and Atlantic. I was at the zoom meeting when it was determined they would rehab the existing building.

lo and behold. That meeting was inconsequential because at the end of the day, there were three houses. They weren’t renovated. They were demolished. We were told it wasn’t going to take place until October.

Again, I spoke to Mr. Agnesino. He said it won’t happen until October. Well, it started Labor Day weekend. They shut down the street.

Thank you very much Ventnor municipality.

By the way, there’s only one municipality in the entire state of New Jersey that allows demolition during the summer. Ventnor.

  3. It’s about time they looked into this department and said representative. He does nothing but bust peoples balls and harass them to improve their property instead of looking at some of the dumps in the area and focusing on making Ventnor better.

Karma is a bitch. Hopefully whatever he was doing comes out and gets to be public. We taxpayers should be aware of what’s happening in our local town govt.

    1. Phil from Ventnor

Amen! Agnesino busts balls day in and day out. Never gives a straight answer when a TAXPAYER calls looking for information or answer to a simple question.

Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the guy is getting envelopes from half the contractors working on the island.

  4. We paid a fortune in legal fees and engineer costs for a “variance”. The lawyer recommended was husband of one of the staff.

It’s was a bit concerning, but we had no options. It all felt dirty.

    1. Not clear on your point. If it was indeed a variance requiring legal documents and engineering support, what are you saying? Or are you suggesting it was in fact aligned to zoning code and standards?

    2. So was it indeed a variance required in your case – whereby legal and engineering WOULD be required? Or are you implying it was not a legitimate variance. I can’t figure out what you’re trying to claim.

  5. Lance Landgraf and Mr Agnesino let neighbor build on my easement, then told me to deal with it.

    Help, please.

  6. Ventnor heights resident

Neighbors in Ventnor Heights had a grievance a few months back about the Plaza. City did not send notification letters to all. Had to deal with this also.

    Small town politics!

    1. Lance Landgraf is corrupt as they come. Ventnor residents have been on the short end of the stick far too long with his pay to play schemes that only benefit him and his constituents.

Landgraf needs to be recalled. Get him out of office. He will sell out the residents in the community to make his own pockets fatter.

HE NEEDS TO GO ASAP! And be held accountable for his corrupt actions.

      1. So despite your repeated allegations of wrongdoing and corruption, you offer no PROOF.
And since apparently you have all of the answers, why isn’t your name on the ballot?

Cheapshots and serious allegations with no proof from the sidelines are pretty lame.

    1. Phil from Ventnor

Update? You want an update? You’ve got to be kidding. This will be buried, obfuscated, and never spoken about in public again. That’s how graft and corruption in local government works! Nobody gets punished, there are no consequences, and the local taxpayer continues to get STIFFED.

      1. STILL waiting for the always miserable Phil to offer any actual proof of the graft and corruption he alleges in Ventnor and Margate. Newsflash: just becuase you don’t like decisions, or disagree with them doesn’t make them crimes.

Phil and the usual posters with these corruption allegations doesn’t seem to get that distinction

        1. You’ve been doing it for years Lance. demanding &taking money or favor’s in exchange for services, misusing public money or granting public jobs or contracts to your sponsors, friends and families,

  7. I have always found Mr Agnesino to be professional and straight forward in my dealings with him.
No department anywhere can make everybody happy
I believe Ventnor for the most part is run well
No body and no place is perfect

    1. How dare you compliment someone. You’re not allowed to do that here. The disgruntled, miserable elderly locals have to allege corruption and take personal cheap shots on every thread, or else comments get deleted and moderated if they don’t align with the agenda.

      1. I take umbrage with the comment about disgruntled miserable Elderly locals. Is it only the elderly who are complaining?

  8. There’s a commercial property on 7300 block of Ventnor Ave. It added a 2nd floor a few years back. Neighbors were against it and voiced their opinions at a zoning board hearing.

The owners stated that it was to be for storage, and they wouldn’t be living in this new 2nd floor.

Well, let’s move the clock up a few years, and guess what? They are, and HAVE BEEN LIVING on 2nd floor (not zoned for living, but storage) for over 2 years.

I hope CODE ENFORCEMENT will look at this and take appropriate action. Residents never received notice of any hearing for occupant to reside on this property.

I’m sure Code Enforcement will look into this matter. They’re a bunch of good people there, and I’ve had no problems on any project I have done with this office.

  9. Agnesino’s entire department is no good. I have owned a duplex in Ventnor for 25 years. Every year I get violations for the simplest things that a normal person wouldn’t even think about.

That department is a hateful and vindictive group of people. That includes Agnesino!

  10. Phil from Ventnor

Still waiting for an “update” on this one.

    Were the discrepancies resolved? Doubtful.

Amazing how these things just disappear.

  11. Amazing how he is still working everyday while under investigation still busting peoples balls about their yards. How is that even legal and how is the mayor allowing this, isn’t everything he touches tainted and shouldnt he be suspended pending the investigation? its a shame one Karen is going to ruin several neighbors yards bc she has no life!
