Ventnor COVID-19 Update. April 17.

Today we end our 6th week of Public Health State of Emergency in New Jersey and 4rd week of Statewide Stay at Home order. There are now 12 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Ventnor. However, we believe our local number of cases is higher. We expect those numbers to continue to rise as the cases in Atlantic County grow from the 344 cases confirmed today.

To mitigate the impact of COVID-19 and protect the capacity of New Jersey’s health care system for the state’s most vulnerable, the State of New Jersey has directed all residents to stay at home until further notice. All gatherings of individuals, such as parties, celebrations, or other social events, unless otherwise authorized, are prohibited.

When in public, individuals must practice social distancing and stay at least six feet apart whenever possible, excluding immediate family members, caretakers, or household members. Individuals must use a face covering when shopping at essential retail businesses, entering a restaurant or bar to pick up takeout orders. All businesses still open must adopt mitigation requirements. Visit covid19.nj.gov/ for all of the latest information from the state.

Ventnor continues to discourage our typical summer surge in population by closing our beaches and boardwalk and restricting short term rentals. Even though it may feel as though our freedoms have been restricted, these inconveniences are temporary and serve the community as a whole during the State of Emergency.

If you have a second home in Ventnor and are concerned about your homes security, you can contact Police Non-Emergency at 609-822-2101 and ask for a free property check. All of the measures we are taking during this crisis are outlined on our website at: www.ventnorcity.org/COVID19InformationandResources

These measures, combined with social distancing, are proving effective in protecting you, your loved ones and fellow residents from the spread of Covid-19. We realize this is likely a stressful and confusing time, and we want to assure you that the city is doing everything we can to help promote the health and safety of our community. We all have a role to play, and we need everyone’s help and cooperation in following all directives.

Because of the evolving nature of this community health situation, the information here is subject to frequent change. Residents are strongly advised to stay up to date on the Federal, State, and local response to and guidance on the evolving COVID-19 situation.

Please continue to follow www.ventnorcity.org for current policy regarding Covid-19.

We look forward to welcoming you back to ALL of the activities we love in Ventnor when it is safe for the entire community.

Thank you and keep yourselves and each other well.
