2016 Ventnor Christmas Holiday Lighting Competition

The 2016 Ventnor Holiday Lighting Competition.  Prizes for best residential and business display. The contest is open to everyone. No registration required. The Ventnor judging committee will drive the streets of Ventnor Dec. 20-24…in order to select the winning homes and businesses.

Entry guidelines & rules. Ventnor 2016 competition

  • The contest is open to all Ventnor residents and businesses
  • Entries must be prepared by December 20, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.
  • The 2015 winners are eligible for the 2016 competition with change in lighting venue
  • All lights must be on from 4:00 pm to 8:00pm from December 20 through 24 for judging

Additional Ventnor Holiday Lighting Competition Information

  • One award will be presented to each winning resident or business
  • Five subcategories of awards will be presented
  • One overall, citywide winner will be selected
  • Contest winners and citywide winner will be published on the DownbeachBUZZ.com website.
  • The contest winners will be announced during the 2016 Polar Bear Plunge Chili Cook Off

2016 Judging Criteria

Total of 100 possible points based on the criteria below:

  • First Impression – 25 Points
  • Design – 20 Points
  • Originality – 20 Points
  • Suitability to Site – 15 Points
  • Creativity – 20 Points (environmental elements including recycling, energy conservation, etc. will also be taken into account)

Important Dates

  • December 20, 2016 – Official contest kickoff.
  • December 20-24, 2016 – Contest judges will tour the community and rate potential winners
  • January 1, 2017 – Contest winners will be announced at the Polar Bear Plunge Chile Cook Off

Awards presented to winners during the Chili Cook-off at the Ventnor Community Center following Polar Bear Plunge, 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1.
