Atlantic City Casino Industry Faces Very Uncertain Future

According to PlayNJ.com, a combination of national economic headwinds, the depreciating perception of Atlantic City as a destination and the accelerated growth of online gambling in New Jersey have resulted in a shrinking regional gaming market.

Once again, gross operating profits for the Atlantic City casino industry are down while net revenues are up.

  1. Simple solution. First, too many casinos still remain. Second, focus on in-person quality and incentives for those gamblers. Third, remove parking fees so everyone can enjoy the resorts. Fourth, focus more on police and safety to get rid of gritty areas. Lastly, go beyond just casinos to equalize AC loss gaps (e.g., events). However, these things have been recommended for many years and here we are again.

  2. There are, and always have been better performing casinos and those that struggle. Moving forward, the most successful ones will remain that way, and those less attractive for gambling, dining and entertainment will have to adapt or perish. Businesses have to evolve.

    1. I would love to see casino’s only in the Brigantine area is. Borgata ,Golden Nugget and Harrahs are doing fine. Most people would say that Hard Rock needs to be in AC. I agree. Ocean most likely as well even though it is way too big.

Find a way to eliminate the others and tear down the Eye sores that remain (Atlantic Club and Trump Plaza.)

Make AC a fun place to be again. It was a blast when I was a kid.

Now families go to Ocean City and Wildwood. That’s a shame!

      1. I would love to see a million dollars and a red Porsche. There is no way that casinos will only be in Brigantine. As the other poster said, like anything else in business it will be survival of the fittest.

  3. Don’t you think the biggest problem is the criminal mayor? He has said over and over again that the city is clean and safe. Have you seen the streets, the trash the run down homes etc. etc. I and others have done everything possible yet he says all is fine. He needs to go, I wish it was to jail.
