Betty’s Seafood Shack; Tasty Debut on Amherst Ave in Margate

Steve Marchel and Robin Kramer both went to college in New England. Naturally, both are well-versed in all things seafood.

Steve and Robin both thought, with so many great seafood shacks in New England, what about Absecon Island?

Recently, the ideal bayfront location became available in Margate and that’s when Betty’s Seafood Shack was born.

Reasonably priced, well-prepared fried and sautéed seafood served with fries and slaw etc.

Steve cut his teeth in the local food scene by co-founding Water Dog in Ventnor, which opened in 2019.

Water Dog’s mascot, and face of the restaurant is Betty, Steve’s cherished Portuguese Water Dog, who passed in 2018.

  1. Congrats.

I tried the Water Dog once.
    It was good but overpriced.

I will try this new place which I will assume is good but overpriced.

For me, the Clam Bar in Somers Point is very good and very-well priced when it comes to this type of seafood.
