DIY Container Garden

Tuesday, November 3 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Embrace your green thumb and join us for an informative session on creating your own indoor Fall container garden. You’ll learn how to grow and care for house plants and herbs to beautify your home and enhance your cooking. This program is free for Holocaust Survivors and Village Members. For non-members, the cost is $5. RSVP by October 29.

Nurse’s Roundtable: Living Your Best Life in Turbulent Times

Wednesday, November 4 from 10:30am to 11:30am

How do you keep a positive attitude when life as you knew it has been so drastically altered? JFS Nurse Educator Lori Pasahow and Village Membership Director Tina Serota will discuss how to put the pieces back together while finding your way to a peaceful and happy 2021. RSVP by October 28.

The Positivity Project

Thursday, November 5 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Join JFS Wellness Coordinator Mary Jean Arreola and Village Membership Director Tina Serota to discover ways to boost your wellness – mind, body and soul. Each month features a new topic including self-care, mindfulness, gratitude, meditation, resiliency and more. RSVP by October 28.

The Village Movie Society

Tuesday, November 10 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Join theater teacher and coach Louise Marshall Hacker and Village Membership Director Tina Serota for a lively discussion about the motion picture, On the Basis of Sex, about how the late Ruth Bader Ginsberg helped to reframe the law to support equal rights. The movie is available on Showtime, Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Google Play. RSVP by November 3. 

Design for Safe & Healthy Living

Wednesday, November 11 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Join Ellen Farber, Interior Designer and Certified Aging in Place Specialist, and Village Membership Director Tina Serota, for an informative discussion on keeping your habitat happy. You’ll learn simple techniques to keep your home comfortable, safe, and well designed.  RSVP by November 4.

Memoir Workshop

Friday, November 13 from 10:30am to 12pm

Experience the thrill of capturing your life’s adventures, history, ancestry and more at a Memoir Workshop led by award-winning author and Drexel University Professor of Creative Writing and Publishing, Harriet Levin Millan. You need a laptop or pen/paper to enjoy the workshop experience. RSVP by November 6.

The Artist’s Corner: Fall Wreaths

Tuesday, November 17 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Explore your inner creativity with artist and crafter Louise Marshall Hacker. This month will be an adventure in Fall wreath-making. Supplies will be provided to each participant prior to class. This program is free for Holocaust Survivors and Village Members. For non-members, the cost is $5. RSVP by November 5.

Creating New Holiday Traditions

Wednesday, November 18 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Join Rothenberg Center for Family Life Supervisor Sharon Simon and Village Membership Director Tina Serota for a lively discussion exploring creative, heartwarming and safe ways to celebrate the holiday season with children, grandchildren, neighbors and friends. RSVP by November 12.

Coffee Klatch

Thursday, November 19 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Insightful, animated and fast-paced conversation with friends and neighbors spanning “both sides of the aisle and the middle.” Share your thoughts on politics, technology, world events, the arts and more. This program is moderated by Village Membership Director Tina Serota. RSVP by November 16.

Comfort Cuisine

Tuesday, November 24 from 10:30am to 11:30am

Join us as we share our favorite recipes and the memories they invoke. This month will feature Thanksgiving specialties. Send a copy of your favorite recipe to Tina Serota at tserota@jfsatlantic.org by November 19 and include its special memory. RSVP by November 19.

Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free for community members to participate. You must RSVP to participate in any program by contacting Tina Serota at 609.287.8872 or tserota@jfsatlantic.org. A Zoom link or call-in number for each program will be e-mailed or provided to you.

Village by the Shore is a membership program for adults over the age of 50. The program provides Intergenerational Events, Transportation, Grocery Shopping and Delivery, Kosher Meals on Wheels and more.
