The Longport Beach Patrol will host lifeguard tryouts on Saturday, June 10 at 9:30a.
Applications can be downloaded from the Longport Borough website and are due by June 4.
Candidates required to provide statement of health from a physician and sign a waiver holding the Longport Borough harmless.
Applications can be dropped off to Longport Borough Hall, 2305 Atlantic Ave. during the week or directly to Longport Beach Patrol Headquarters, 33rd Avenue at the beach on weekends starting Memorial Day weekend.
The Longport Lifeguard test includes:
- 1-mile run in under 7 mins, 30 secs;
- Quarter-mile box swim
- Quarter-mile row
- 200-meter paddle
- Run, swim, run of 100 meters each.
Anyone who can’t finish 1-mile run in under 7:30 will not be permitted to advance.
Successful candidates will be announced on Monday, June 12.
Those hired will be required to take a drug test.
Anyone over age 18 required to submit background check and be fingerprinted before starting work.
Anyone under age 18 required to submit working papers.
