From Larry A. Campbell. SUBJECT: JITNEY SERVICE FOR MARGATE. RESOLUTION #72-2016. MAY 5, 2016, 4:00 PM WORK SESSION and 5:00 MEETING.
1) I AM DEFINITELY IN FAVOR of a FULL SUMMER TRIAL PERIOD to test the benefits of Jitney Service to Margate, but strongly suggest that this service begin at 12Noon, seven (7) days a week and end at 3:00AM. This start time will favor the Majority of Residents, Homeowners and Business Owners in Margate, not just a few with special interests.
2) I fully believe that Mayor Becker and Commissioners Amodeo & Blumberg will consider the interests of All Margate Residents and Property Owners in any decision they will make.
3) Downbeachbuzz.com has taken a survey (which safeguards against multiple votes from the same voter) that as of 1:20 on May 4, 2016 is reporting 993 Votes FOR the Jitney Service In Margate and 162 Votes AGAINST the Service.
4) Besides reducing parking problems and bringing new Patrons & other business to the City of Margate, I believe one of the major benefits of Jitney Service To Margate would be to Get Drunk Divers Off The Roads. If this means turning an occasional Jitney Bus into a Drunk Bus, so be it.
This would be a GOOD THING IF IT PREVENTS PERSONAL INJURY/DEATH OR PROPERTY DAMAGE!
