Margate Mayor Mike Collins, together with Commissioners Blumberg and Horn, voted on DEC 7 to approve multiple contracts and pay raises endorsed by Margate Business Admin, Ken Mosca.
Congrats to new Margate Public Works Superintendent, Pat Powers.
Powers replaces retired superintendent, Frank Ricciotti.
According to Downbeach.com:
Pat Powers, Margate Public Works Superintendent Contract:
- $165,000 base salary for 2024
- $169,000 for 2025
- $173,000 for 2026
- 20 vacation days per year
- 15 sick days per year
- Health care
- Pension
It’s not clear how many sick/vacation days can be carried over or banked until retirement. Waiting for Mosca to provide some clarity on so-called ‘boat checks’. Longevity pay is also a question mark.
Three-year contracts went to applicable Margate employees within the Recreation and Public Works departments.
Contract terms were not discussed in public, or posted to agenda. Residents not aware of proceedings or details of public employee contracts. Mosca does not post online for public to see.
Note: Audio quality of public meetings has declined since arrival of Ken Mosca. The Dec 7 meeting was unlistenable.
Margate Advisory Board agrees that Mayor Collins has yet to deliver on his campaign promise of more transparency.

Corruption to the max. No transparency whatsoever. Grew up in Margate. Principal of Tighe School was Mr. William Mosca. Great man of integrity. Don’t think he would approve of this non-transparency.
Money used the wrong way, is root of evil. Very sad to see
