Voters in Ventnor said YES on NOV 8, to allow up to three liquor consumption licenses to be sold to the highest bidder.
Today, Ventor City only has BYOB restaurants. Oddly, they’re not allowed to sell a glass of wine to diners…..BUT…..Ventnor boasts of eight liquor stores. Go figure.
Now that the referendum passed, Commissioners will introduce an ordinance outlining the following for bidders to consider:
- Eligible business districts
- Minimum square footage
- Physical layout of place
- Minimum seating
- Hours of operation
Bidders could include current restaurant owners like Domenicos, Red Room Cafe or LaGrotta. If an auction is used, this could attract entice outside restaurateurs to set up shop in Ventnor.
